About Me.
Hello! My name is Emilia Datuin. My undergraduate journey started at Allan Hancock College, Santa Maria where I earned my Associate's Degree for Transfer in Early Childhood Education in May of 2021. I am currently a 2nd year transfer student majoring in Child Development at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and I plan to graduate in the Spring of 2023.
I have work experience as a behavioral therapist. I assisted my ABA supervisor and instructed clients in a variety of educational settings including home, community, and school. I am currently a PULSE Peer Health Educator for Campus Health and Wellbeing at Cal Poly. I collaborate with student-led teams to develop and implement fun, safe, supportive, interactive, and educational programming on campus. When I am not working, I enjoy reading, watching shows on Netflix, cooking, creating arts & crafts, and spending time with family and friends.
In the past five years, I have discovered my passion in providing counseling services, promoting social justice, and advocating for community resources to a diverse population of children, youth, families, and individuals. After graduating from Cal Poly, I plan to pursue a Master's in Social Work (MSW) and become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) serving communities and populations in need.
This website serves as my child development portfolio. It is the culmination of my Child Development knowledge and experiences. I share relevant topics in child development, ways in which technology can be used as a tool in effective and unique science communication for children, and my personal media. Emerging technology tools I used were Wix, Photoshop, Blogs, Podcasts, and Twitter. Wix is free website builder I used to create this website. Photoshop is a graphics editor where I learned to use digital art tools to edit and enhance three images. My blog and podcast are unique mediums in sharing knowledge and personal experiences to the public. Finally, I used Twitter to connect to child development professionals. These emerging technology tools are great ways to connect with others and learn more about child growth and development.
Happy exploring!
