Podcasts

Podcasts are an extremely popular form of audio entertainment and source of information. Podcasts are created by a host. Hosts publish episodes online, and subscribers can download and listen to that episode's content. Podcasts entertain, humor, and educate. This form of media is different from others as there are usually no visual cues. Children can learn fun and educational materials from podcasts. Podcasts allow children to hear natural patterns of speech, pronunciation, and itonation.

But Why: A Podcast for Curious Kids is a podcast show from the Vermont Public Radio created by and for, well, curious kids! This podcast is child centered and led. Children ask questions and they find the answers. Topics covered by this show include nature, words, or even the end of the world. Each episode is approximately 20-35 minutes in length and is titled by the focus question. For example, "How do popcorn kernels pop?". But Why is an excellent recommendation for children and adults alike. It is geared for those who are interested in learning exciting facts on a variety of different topics.
